How to develop and follow your own Intuition? My near death experience and the consequences of not trusting your gut instincts.
In 2017 I had a near death experience and it was profound. I was kayaking in rural Maine USA, the water was high with the Spring snowmelt and I was very inexperienced. Before we left to go on this trip, I felt my entire body screaming at me that this was a very, very, very bad idea.
Instead of trusting & listening to that, I caved to peer pressure and went anyway.
The water was ice cold with many fallen trees and other debris throughout the water. What once was a stream had turned into a raging river. I felt sick and tense as we paddled downstream as it began to rain and the water continued to rise.
We rounded a corner and before us were MASSIVE rapids, HUGE trees laying across the water. The person I was with started panicking, shouting instructions about what I should do to minimize the disaster that was inevitable.
The current swiftly carried me to the side of the river where I was quickly pinned under a fallen tree and I tumbled into the water. I went under and started grasping the rocks and branches around me trying to get to the surface. I thought to myself, this is it, this is how I die.
My feet were tangled in the roots of the fallen trees and my body was in shock from the temperature of the water, I could barely think. I clawed my way up by grabbing onto the bottom of the river and found the surface. I was in the middle of the river.
I managed to get out of the water and collapsed onto the bank. I couldn't believe I was still alive. I was so shocked I couldn't speak even hours afterwards. I immediately started beating myself up that I hadn't listened to my intuition that had been screaming at me not to go on the trip.
I had recognized something was wrong and dangerous and I didn't listen.
On my drive home, I felt so thankful to my spirit team for trying to warn me and ultimately saving my life from drowning. I was thinking about my grandmother in spirit and could feel her presence close to me.
I was the only car on the road, I looked up and noticed a beautiful bald eagle flying beside my car.
It flew over me and landed right in the center of the road, staring at me. That was my spiritual sign.
I made eye contact with the eagle as I drove closer and it jumped back up into the air and continued to follow my car for over 15 minutes.
I had full body chills and was crying the entire time.
I should have died that day, I still don't know how I didn't.
