Oh, Hollywood, I blame you for this one!
Ghosts, Earthbound, and Evil Spirits. All of these have negative connotations and can instill fear in people (rightfully so). Are there Earthbound Spirits forever stuck in homes of their past, haunting innocent families, and spending time in the graveyard?
Let me break it down for you with some definitions of these words, and let's explore what is and is not fact.
Ghosts/Earthbound Spirits: Commonly portrayed in Hollywood movies such as Paranormal Activity and The Conjuring. We associate ghosts in our culture as a costume for Halloween, but there is science that proves that ghost phenomena is real. However, I do not believe that spirits can get "stuck" here on Earth. We are all spirits; we come from the spirit world when we are born and naturally return there when we die. Our souls are intelligent and do not need any assistance when it's time to return home. While spirit activity can be present in a home, you do not have to be scared of it. It's much more likely a passed loved one of yours trying to get your attention rather than something that resembles the Poltergeist.
Evil Spirits: The age-old battle of good vs. bad. Of course, there are some terrible, horrible people here on Earth, no question. On the other hand, there are people who are living who some would describe as "an Angel walking among us". While both dualities exist, it's my opinion that you are much, much more likely to be interacting with good vs. "bad" spirits. Evil Spirits are not constantly out to get you the way that some religious philosophies make it seem. I have NEVER had a spirit come through to me during a Mediumship Reading as an "Evil Spirit".
I do not believe that spirits can be earthbound. I do believe that spirits can visit us here on Earth. But the haunted houses, I do not totally believe to be true. Many of these negative interactions can be summed up as a lot of fear-based beliefs.
These are my personal opinions based on my knowledge and experience as a Psychic Medium and Spiritualist. While some may disagree or have different opinions than mine, I urge you to be aware that some people use these terms as a way to instill fear and control others. It is very common for scams to tell you that you are cursed, have an evil attachment, or that your house is haunted by earthbound spirits.
